NetCDF Explorer

Open NetCDF files from your computer, plot the data and export a point, an area average or a subset as CSV or NetCDF - processed entirely in your browser, nothing is uploaded

Open Files
Drop NetCDF files here
One file, or several (e.g. one per year) on the same grid
Your files stay on this computer. They are read by your browser and are never sent to the server.
How to Use
  1. Choose one NetCDF file, or select several at once (e.g. one file per year) - they are combined into one continuous record
  2. In Extract, pick a point (click the map) or draw an area, the variables and the dates
  3. Click Extract & Preview to see a plot and the first rows
  4. Download the result as CSV (or NetCDF for area subsets)
Limits
  • GRIB files are not supported in the browser
  • Only deflate (zlib) compressed NetCDF-4 can be read
  • Browser memory is limited - very large extractions must be narrowed
  • Works best in a recent Chrome, Edge or Firefox

Open one or more files to plot and extract their data.
